Conference on the chestnut tree in Boimorto
On the forthcoming 10th and 11th of April, the Boimorto Cultural Centre will host the 2026 Chestnut Days, organised by the local council of this Galician town.
The programme kicks off on Friday the 10th in the afternoon. Experts from various universities and organisations will address fundamental topics, such as the role of bees in pollination, the fight against brown rot and ink disease of chestnut, the impact of climate change, the economic potential of the flower and the latest advances in precision irrigation using hydroinfiltrators. The day will conclude with a tasting of chestnut-derived products.
Saturday the 11th will be a practical session dedicated to visiting the nut groves to see the installation of irrigation systems and identify symptoms of tree stress directly in the field.
The price of the activity will be €10 per person, to be paid into the council's account: ES09 2080 0336 7431 1000 0079. Once the payment has been made, proof of payment must be sent to the email: cultura@boimorto.es or at the town hall, indicating the participant's full name. Places will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis until full. The minimum number of participants is 50 people.
