The Forestry Association of Galicia, through its service company Selga, Compañía Galega de Silvicultores, S.L., offers its members the opportunity to manage their forest properties.
This service is provided under a management contract between the property owner and Selga and involves the development and control of the works scheduled in the management plan or simple plan for the management of the forest or forests in question, and comprises three fundamental steps:
Taking into account the actions planned in the management plan or simple management scheme, or the property's instructions, the AFG-Selga technicians will draw up the annual action plan for each woodland:
The annual plan shall specify the works to be carried out during the year, together with the measured units of work, an indicative budget and a planned execution date.
This annual plan will be presented in the first month of the year and approved by the owners.
No work will be carried out that is not included in the work plan and does not have the property owner's consent.
Any extraordinary or urgent work will be communicated to the property owner, who will give their consent before it commences or is contracted, and the most rapid way to carry it out will be considered.
The action plan will be reviewed quarterly or semi-annually, depending on the scheduled work and the results obtained.
For the execution of each unit of work detailed in the annual action plan, detailed quotations will be requested from several companies. The contractor will indicate the unit prices and the prices for each unit of work. No quotation that does not include the unit prices for the works will be approved (the property reserves the right to request further quotations).
Once the budget has been approved by the property owner, a contract will be drawn up between the contracting company and the property owner for the execution of the works. The works will not commence until the contract has been signed.
Before commencing the works, AFG-Selga will inform the contracted company of the characteristics of the works and tasks and will resolve any queries that may be raised. For the proper execution of the works, AFG-Selga's technicians will carry out supervisory visits, either at the property owner's request or because the complexity of the works requires it.
The company carrying out the works will notify the property owner and AFG-Selga of their commencement, and AFG-Selga technicians may be present at the start of the work if deemed necessary.
Once the works are completed, AFG-Selga technicians will inspect the works and actions carried out in the forest, carry out the necessary measurements and assess the quality of the work performed.
Upon recognition of the work carried out by the AFG-Selga technician, a certificate of completion of works will be issued. This certificate will include:
The completion certificate will be sent by AFG-SELGA to the property owner for their approval.
Once the property's approval has been received, the company will invoice the work actually carried out in accordance with the certification provided and the unit prices set out in the approved budget.
Certifications can be carried out monthly or for the entire body of work, depending on the area of operation.
