Seminar “Forest Bioeconomy in Challenging Times”
On 20 June, from 10.30 am to 6.30 pm, the international seminar will take place. Forest bioeconomy in challenging times: technologies, markets and policies, framed within the BIOTECFOR+ project.
The forest bioeconomy is shaping up as a dynamic and promising area for the economic, social and environmental development of countries, particularly in cases such as Portugal and Spain where there are significant forested areas and where their resources can be sustainably exploited locally to drive economic growth, promote environmental conservation and tackle the urgent challenges of our time. This innovative approach will inevitably have to integrate several interconnected aspects and elements, including advanced technologies, market dynamics and sustainable practices, framed within policies that take into account the valorisation of marketable products and services such as the carbon market and ecosystem services.
In challenging times for societies, the forest bioeconomy presents itself as an attractive and transformative area of development, pointing us towards a future full of expectation, innovation, enthusiasm and also a certain uncertainty inherent in periods of change, which are also periods of opportunity, such as new markets for forest-derived products and services.
By harnessing advanced technologies, market opportunities and adopting sustainable practices, the forest bioeconomy can pave the way for a more sustainable and prosperous future, in which forests serve as the foundation for a thriving bio-based economy.
We invite you to participate in and debate these topics at the seminar "Forest Bioeconomy in Challenging Times: Technologies, Markets and Policies", held on 20 June at the Cupertino de Miranda Foundation in Porto.
