Meeting of the focal group of the COMPÁS project in Navia de Suarna
On October 15, the meeting of focus group "Pyric herbivory Luguese Ancares" was held in Navia de Suarna, organized by the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC) in collaboration with the Galicia Forestry Association (AFG).
About 30 people, including farmers, forestry technicians and researchers, gathered to learn about the project's experiences on pyric herbivory COMPAS in the Luguese Ancares forests.
Pyric herbivory consists in the improvement of pastures carried out through the controlled burning of a mass of shrubs or the undergrowth of a mass of trees followed by a livestock use of the sprouts.
A xornada do 15 de outubro incluíu unha presentación sobre os resultados da primeira reunión do grupo, onde se discutiron normativas relacionadas co lume, a xestión do gando e os programas de desenvolvemento rural.
The debate focused on looking for ways to improve the legislation in force in order to encourage the use of pyric herbivory as a crucial tool for the risk-free maintenance of forest spaces.
