Representatives of the forestry sector meet with the Director General of Forest Planning and Management
On 28 July, a group of six people representing organisations in the forestry sector held a working meeting with María Luisa Piñeiro, Director General of Forest Planning and Management.
The aim of the meeting was to address various issues of interest to the sector, such as the deadlines for carrying out timber harvesting operations and the conditions for extracting or shredding residual forest biomass.
Views were also exchanged on changes in the use of agricultural land and the conditions for maintaining firebreak strips.
Other questions raised included the need for the consolidation of the orders and decrees affecting the sector and the conditions for the utilisation of birch wood.
The meeting took place in a very cordial atmosphere and served to formulate and seek alternative solutions to some of the problems the sector faces in its day-to-day management of Galicia's forests.
