The GALICIA FORESTRY ASSOCIATION (henceforth, AFG) is a non-profit private association, created in Santiago de Compostela in 1986. It brings together individual private forest owners and private communal neighborhood forest owners in Galicia.
AFG purposes
To bring together owners and holders of forest properties in Galicia.
- To represent its members before national and international administrations, entities, corporations and institutions in the forestry sector.
- To contribute to the development of forestry policies in line with the interests of Galician forestersyou.
- To improve forestry production in Galicia in quantity and quality, increasing the profitability of forests.
- To provide its partners with information, advice and technical assistance in the forestry field.
- To inform the Administration about legislation that could affect forest property, the practice of forestry and, in general, Galician forests and forest products.
- To support and promote forestry research and propose research lines and projects that respond to the needs of Galician foresters.
- To encourage initiatives and suggest proposals that improve the structure of forest property in Galicia aimed at obtaining technically appropriate exploitation units.
- To disseminate and promote knowledge and techniques aimed at achieving sustainable management of forest resources in Galicia.
- To develop training activities that contribute to increasing knowledge and management capacity in the forestry field.
- To promote initiatives that contribute to increasing the added value of goods, products and resources generated in the Galician forests.
- To carry out all those activities compatible with the aforementioned purposes, the statutes and the legislation in force.
The benefits you get a AFG for any reason, they will be used exclusively for the fulfillment of these purposes, without being able to be distributed among the partners or other natural or legal persons with a profitable interest.
Activities of the AFG
Throughout the year, the AFG organizes numerous activities related to forestry and forest management; among them, the realization of technical trips, attendance at forestry fairs, the organisation of forestry-related congresses, symposia and seminars. In the field of training, AFG provides courses to its members on the main aspects of forestry and forest management.
On the other hand, all AFG members also benefit from:
- O Monte magazine, published annually and free of charge for members, with a circulation of 2,500 copies. With updated information on timber prices, aid and subsidies, forestry techniques, forest health, regulations...
- The publication of books and manuals on forestry, forestry taxation and forest management.
- Technical library with an extensive bibliographic collection that includes the main books and magazines in the forestry field.
