New issue of O Monte magazine
The Galicia Forestry Association published the latest issue of its magazine O Monte on December 26th.
All people associated with the AFG, as well as sectoral entities, have just received this magazine, which constitutes number 66, including some of the aspects that currently concern Galician forest property the most.
This new issue opens with an article by Julio Ruiz Cagigal on vandalism in Galician private forests, which in the last year has once again kept many private communal neighborhood forests and individual private owners on edge as they suffer damage to their plantations and infrastructure.
It continues with two very interesting interviews with a Galician forest owner who cultivates chestnut trees for the production of chestnut and pseudotsuga and with a technician who works in the forestry services of the Australian State of Queensland who visited Galicia last July.
The R&D projects in which the Forestry Association of Galicia is currently participating are also presented and an article is also included that analyzes the importance of the economic perspective of forestry decisions.
There is also a summary of the results of the last general assembly and the change in the Association's management team, along with two examples of the ecological richness of the Galician forests: the Xabriña river route in Mondariz and the Magdalena cork oaks in the municipality of O Rosal.
The issue ends with a review of timber sales in 2023 and the prices of timber and other forest products.
