Instructions for work in the woods with a high risk of fire
The Ministry of Rural Affairs published Order of 23 June 2026 regulating the use of machinery during the high-risk period, in cases of a very high or extreme wildfire risk index.
The carrying out of preventive, silvicultural or agricultural works and activities in the forest during the high forest fire danger period, when the IRDI reaches very high or extreme levels, may be authorised (in accordance with the terms established in the PLADIGA), but between 12:00 and 18:00 the following requirements must be met:
- To have a person acting as an assistant, whose role will be the early detection of potential fire outbreaks and the immediate notification to the emergency services via the 085 or 112 telephone lines or the Alume mobile app.
- Have a vehicle equipped with a water tank with a minimum capacity of 400 litres, two oars, a water-based foam fire extinguisher with a capacity of no less than 6 kilograms, and a backpack fire extinguisher with a minimum capacity of 15 litres.
In any case, compliance with these preventive measures and the conditions set out in the current regulations does not exempt one from the responsibilities that may arise from causing a wildfire.
