ForestED.- Training workshop for private forest managers in O Incio
The Galician Forestry Association, in collaboration with the Concello do Incio and within the project ForestED, organizes a workshop on Friday, May 16, 2025, on the use of deciduous trees that will take place in the Multipurpose Hall of the City Council and will develop the following program:
- ForestED: hardwood wood for innovative uses in construction by Antonio Rigueiro Rodríguez, president of the Galician Forestry Association.
- The potential of using hardwood wood in construction, by María Belén Feijóo Lombao, architect of the Structural Wood Engineering Platform, of the University of Santiago de Compostela.
- Joint management forest groups, by Daniel Rodríguez Cebreiro, economic director of the Galician Forestry Association.
- Colloquium and questions.
The ForestED project aims to obtain new wood products from deciduous and coniferous hardwoods that are currently undervalued commercially. The aim is to generate products for building, both structural and non-structural (interior and exterior carpentry, etc.) and for urban furniture.
The ForestED project is an initiative led by the Institute of Advanced Architecture of Catalonia, with the participation of the Consorci Forestal de Catalunya, the Centro de Ciencia y Tecnología Forestal de Cataluña and the Galicia Forestry Association.
Within the actions developed in this project, three forests were selected for study in Galicia, one in Zas, another in Boqueixón and a third in O Incio, specifically in the parish of Laiosa. In this forest of Laiosa, an oak mass was selected where a selective felling of trees was carried out that were sent to Catalonia for analysis, experimentation and transformation by the technological partners of the ForestED project, the Institute of Advanced Architecture of Catalonia and the Centro de Ciencia y Tecnología Forestal de Cataluña.
The conference scheduled for Friday, May 16th in the multipurpose hall of the Incio town hall is open to all forest owners and managers who are interested in forest management and the possibilities of using wood for construction, as well as the advantages of joint management forest groups.
Attendance is free and open, but prior registration is required by calling 981 564 011, 618 752 214 or by email at afg@asociacionforestal.org.
