ForestED.- Workshop on forest management of private forests in Boimorto
The Forestry Association of Galicia organizes, in collaboration with the Concello de Boimorto, a workshop on forest management in Boimorto Saturday 23 November 2024. It will take place in the Casa da Cultura and will start at 10.30 am.
This workshop is part of the activities of the ForestED project, Impulse to the transformative potential of forest management for the sustainable production of wood with high added value and the promotion of the bioeconomy in the building sector.
One of the main objectives of the ForestED project is to obtain new wood products from deciduous trees such as chestnut, birch or oak. The initiative aims to generate new products for building, both structural and non-structural (interior and exterior carpentry, etc.), as well as materials for street furniture.
The session will begin with a theoretical session at the Casa da Cultura de Boimorto at 10.30 a.m., in which the following topics will be addressed: hardwood wood for innovative uses in building, the management of the use and conservation of biodiversity, the practical considerations to take into account in the cutting of wood, the certification of sustainable forest management and the fiscal obligations of the sale of wood. The activity will end with a trip to the mountain to see examples of deciduous hardwood forestry.
Attendance is free and open, but prior registration is required by calling 981 564 011, 618 752 214 or by email at afg@asociacionforestal.org.
This project is an initiative led by the Instituto de Arquitectura Avanzada de Cataluña, with the participation of the Consorci Forestal de Catalunya, the Centro de Ciencia y Tecnología Forestal de Cataluña and the Galician Forestry Association.
ForestED has the support of the Fundación Biodiversidad of the Ministerio para la Transición Ecológica y el Reto Demográfico (MITECO) within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (PRTR), financed by the European Union – NextGenerationEU.
