ForestED - Prototypes
Throughout the months of August and September, some of the prototypes developed at the Institute of Advanced Architecture of Catalonia with wood from the Galician and Catalan forests, cut within the project, were unveiled. ForestED, which show how sustainable forest management can transform broadleaf and conifer trees that are currently underutilized into products for construction and design.
The objective is clear: to add value to the forests and promote the use of sustainable and decarbonizing materials, connecting architecture, territory and forest.

These and other prototypes can be seen in a traveling exhibition that will take place in the following locations and dates:
Barcelona, from November 5 to 16 at the MUHBA Oliva Artés Building (Carrer d'Espronceda, nº 142-146, Sant Martí).
MadridFrom November 21st to 30th, at the Higher Technical School of Architecture (Avenida Juan de Herrera, nº 4).
Pontevedra, from December 9 to 21, at the School of Forestry Engineering of Pontevedra (A Xunqueira University Campus).
The ForestED project aims to obtain new wood products from deciduous and coniferous hardwoods that are currently undervalued commercially. The aim is to generate products for building, both structural and non-structural (interior and exterior carpentry, etc.) and for urban furniture.
ForestED is an initiative led by the Institute of Advanced Architecture of Catalonia, which has the participation of the Forest Consortium of Catalonia, the Center for Forest Science and Technology of Catalonia and the Forest Association of Galicia; and has the support of the Biodiversity Foundation of the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO) within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (PRTR), financed by the European Union – NextGenerationEU.
