ForestED: Opening of the travelling exhibition
Last Wednesday, 5 November, we took part in the opening day of the final travelling exhibition of the FORESTED project in Barcelona. The Forestry Association of Galicia was represented by its president, Antonio Rigueiro Rodríguez, who also spoke as a panellist at the event.
This exhibition showcases, among other things, prototypes of wooden pieces for multiple uses created from timber sourced from the forests of Galicia and Catalonia. The aim was to demonstrate the utility of logs that are typically discarded by the industry due to their poor conformation or because they are species not valued for industrial use. In the case of Galicia, experiments were carried out with birch, oak and chestnut wood, sourced from forests in the municipalities of Zas, Boqueixón and O Incio.
The travelling exhibition will be open until 16 November in Barcelona (MUHBA Oliva Artés), in Madrid from 21 to 30 November (School of Architecture), and will open its doors in Pontevedra on 10 December at the School of Forest Engineering, where it will remain open until 21 December.
ForestED is an initiative led by the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia, in which the Forestry Consortium of Catalonia, the Centre for Forestry Science and Technology of Catalonia and the Galician Forestry Association participate; and it has the support of the Biodiversity Foundation of the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge. (MITECO) under the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (PRTR), funded by the European Union – NextGenerationEU.
