As part of the training activities at the Pico Sacro Demonstration Forest, the Forestry Association of Galicia, in collaboration with the company Hifas da Terra, will organise three workshops on chestnut silviculture for the production of timber, mushrooms and chestnuts.

The first of these workshops will focus on Chestnut silviculture and mycorrhization, will take place  Saturday 11 December at 10:00 at the headquarters of the company Hifas da Terra (Pontevedra) It will be delivered by expert technicians in the subject, in accordance with the following programme:

9.30 to 10.00 am Participant reception

1. The chestnut: silvicultural models and profitability. Technicians from AFG and Hifas da Terra

• The models of wood production
• The fruit production models
• The reproductive materials

1. Mychorization of chestnut. Technicians of Hifas da Terra

• Mycorrhizae, what is it?
• Fungus/plant benefits.
• Controlled mycorrhization.
• Planning the planting of mycorrhizal trees.
• Mycorrhization of pre-existing masses.

1. Work placement visit

• Visit to the Hifas Foresta mycorrhizal plant production plots.
• Hybrid chestnut mother plant fields.
• Plant production greenhouses.
• Mycorrhizal practice of adult trees.
