The Arume Foundation presents the Piñeiros'25 program, the annual meeting of the forest industry chain, with Chile and Uruguay as guest countries
Fundación Arume presents the program of Piñeiros'25, the fifth edition of the international meeting specialized in conifers, which will take place on Tuesday, October 28th at the City of Culture of Santiago (Fontán Building). This year, as a novelty, Piñeiros'25 will include two additional technical days on Thursday, the 30th at the Forest Research Center of Lourizán (Pontevedra) and at Casa RIA (Santiago).
The main event of Piñeiros'25, on Tuesday 28th at the City of Culture, will start with a keynote lecture on the Spanish pavilion at the Venice Architecture Biennale and with three thematic blocks that will address current issues of outstanding importance at a social and forestry level. A first block will address the future of housing, analyzing the role of wood as a transformer of the real estate market. Next, the forest health situation of conifers will be discussed and the event will close in the afternoon with a debate on the pine tree as a cultural element in Galicia.
This year, Piñeiros'25 will feature Uruguay and Chile as guest countries, with speakers from both countries who will explain the keys to their work in both the field of wood construction and forest health.
Chile stands out as an international exponent in the genetic improvement of radiata pine, a species also widely spread in Galicia; while the Uruguayan case, at a forestry level, is interesting for its experience with the taeda pine, a conifer that is being introduced in Galicia due to its resistance to diseases and pests, such as the band fungus and the pine nematode.
Piñeiros'25 has the collaboration of the Xunta de Galicia, through XERA, the Galician Forestry Industry Agency.
