The forest-wood value chain meets to address the main challenges it faces in the new course.
Representatives of Galicia's forest-wood value chain held a working meeting with the aim of setting out the lines of action for the new course that is about to begin. In this way, collaborative work is being reactivated within the various commissions of the chain.
At this first meeting, the main concerns of the sector associations were highlighted, which will shape the roadmap for the coming months, essentially linked to the implementation of the various lines of the Galician Forestry Plan aimed at greater sustainability and the productivity of Galicia's forests so that they generate greater value for society, as well as to the development of a new strategic plan for the sector.
The representatives of the various associations in the supply chain agreed to reconvene at the end of this September with the aim of producing a summary of the work carried out by the different committees, sharing the achievements made, and setting short- and medium-term objectives.
Working groups in Galicia's forest value chain
For more than five years, the forest value chain has been organised into working committees with the aim of having a greater social presence and maintaining a fluid dialogue with the Administration.
Among the major achievements in Galicia, with the sector's active participation, are the Galician Forestry Plan, the development of a forestry statistical system that includes continuous inventory, the establishment of a Directorate-General exclusively for forest planning and management with a budget independent of firefighting, and various administrative simplification measures.
With this working dynamic, which respects the sovereignty of each association and strengthens the unity of the chain, very positive achievements have been made for the entire sector, prioritising consensus, focusing on the problems we share and conveying a joint vision to society as a whole.
