The Forestry Association of Galicia developed an international course for forest managers as part of the Forest-IN project.
The Forestry Association of Galicia, in collaboration with FSC International, developed a course for forest managers this month, attended by around 50 people from Galicia as well as from the rest of Spain, Portugal and France. The training programme included lectures and practical sessions, which were held at the Museum of the Pilgrimages in Santiago; as well as field visits, such as those to the Eume Deeps and to areas of mountain land-parcellation in Oroso and Curtis, as well as to Pico Sacro and its demonstration woodland.
The course is part of the Forest-IN project, promoted by organisations from Spain, France and Portugal to promote forestry education. It was held during the week of 11 to 15 March and covered various forestry issues of interest, such as silvopasture, the Land Bank, land consolidation, forest certification, medicinal plants, Galician forests in the Natura 2000 network and the practical management of forest units.
The week concluded with a guided tour of San Domingos de Bonaval Park by the technical service of Santiago City Council.
